I Am The Light Of The World | Therefore I Am

Have you ever been in a dark room and stubbed your toe on a coffee table? Ouch. Darkness makes everything a little more dangerous, a little more confusing, and let's be honest—kind of scary. Whether you're five or fifty-five, there's something unsettling about not being able to see clearly.

That's why what Jesus says in John 8:12 is so powerful: "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life."

Let that sink in. Jesus isn't just a light—He's THE light. The kind of light that chases away every shadow, every fear, and every confusion. He's the light that brings life, warmth, and clarity. And just like those giant lamps lit up the city during the Feast of Tabernacles, Jesus lights up our hearts and our paths. He's not distant or cold. He's up close, personal, and ready to walk with you—especially in the dark places.

Following Jesus doesn't mean life is always easy, but it means you'll never have to wander aimlessly or stumble alone. His light brings comfort when life gets dark, confronts us when we're off course, cures the things that break us, and changes us to look more like Him.

And here's the best part: Jesus calls us to be carriers of that light. Just like Florence Nightingale walked hospital halls with a little lamp that brought hope, you carry the light of Jesus into every conversation, coffee shop, classroom, or cubicle.

So keep the light on—there's someone who needs to see it.

Pray With Us!

Jesus, thank You for being the light in my darkness. When the world feels overwhelming, You steady my heart. Shine Your light into the places I try to hide, and help me walk in Your truth. Make me a light to those around me, so they can see Your love through me. Amen.

Let's Reflect:

Where in your life do you feel like you're walking in darkness right now? How has Jesus brought light into your story—comfort, clarity, or healing? Who around you might need to see the light of Jesus through your life this week?
