I Am the Truth | Therefore I Am
What if the key to making things right isn't in fixing everything, but in loving first?
Jesus has a way of flipping our world upside down. In Matthew 22:37-39, He gives us the two greatest commandments: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself." He doesn't say, "Fix your problems first," or "Make sure you're successful first," He says love first.
Now, living this out isn't always easy. It's easy to prioritize tasks, our goals, or even personal agendas over love. But think about how many times in life you've felt overwhelmed, and it was the simple act of someone showing you love that made all the difference. It could be a friend's kind word, a hug from your spouse, or a helping hand when you least expected it. These small acts of love remind us that love is the foundation for everything else in our lives.
Think about how Jesus lived this out. He was constantly in demand, always healing, teaching, and serving. But despite all the things vying for His attention, He put love first. He loved His disciples even when they didn't understand Him. He loved the outcasts, the sinners, the broken, and the sick. Love was the filter through which He did everything else.
Even the greatest accomplishments or spiritual gifts are hollow without love.
So, when life feels like it's pulling you in a hundred different directions, remember: love first. When you show love, you begin to embody Christ in the world around you. Love fuels everything else.
Let's Pray!
Lord, thank You for showing us what true love looks like through Jesus. Help us to live with love at the center of everything we do. Remind us to put love first in our relationships, our work, and our day-to-day moments. Teach us to be patient, kind, and selfless as we reflect Your love in our world. Thank You for Your endless love for us. Amen.
