Food | Less is More
As we step into a new year, it's easy to feel like we're running on empty or wishing we had "more"... more strength, more clarity, more breakthrough.
But Jesus flips that idea upside down. Over and over in Scripture, we see this surprising truth: when we give God a little less of our comfort and control, He fills our lives with so much more of Himself.
Fasting is one of those practices that reminds us of that truth in a very real, very human way. It's not about being super spiritual or proving anything to God. It's simply choosing to quiet one appetite so we can awaken another. When we say no to food, distractions, or comfort for a season, we're really saying yes to deeper connection, clearer perspective, and renewed dependence on God.
Fasting helps us remember who's actually in charge... not our cravings, not our schedules, not our habits, but the Lord. And the beautiful promise is that when we seek Him first, He doesn't leave us lacking. He meets us with grace, strength, freedom, and fullness that no meal or shortcut could ever provide.
Less of us, more of Him, and somehow, that always turns out to be more than enough.
Pray With Me!
God, thank You for loving us enough to invite us into a deeper life with You. As we begin this new season, help us loosen our grip on the things that distract or control us and trust You with our needs. Stir a fresh hunger in our hearts for Your presence, Your voice, and Your freedom. Teach us that when we put You first, You truly satisfy. We give this time to You and ask You to meet us in it. Amen.
Let's Reflect:
What might God be inviting you to set aside so you can focus more fully on Him? Where have you noticed comfort or habits quietly taking the place of dependence on God? How would your daily life look different if seeking God first became your starting point instead of your backup plan?
