Seek and Wait

Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added unto you (Matthew 6:33).

Everyone is seeking something, relief from pain, vision for the future, comfort from the past, a relationship for fun, the list is long. It can be overwhelming and exhausting at times. If we're not careful we can settle for a quick fix or less than what God has for us.

God wants us to go to him first since his ways are higher than our ways. He wants us to trust him with all areas of our lives first. (Proverbs 3:4-6).

Sometimes it's tough to do because there's a waiting period to hear an answer. God is not a vending machine or an ATM. While we seek him and possibly wait, he wants us to also learn about ourselves so we can fully surrender to him. Because it is in surrender where victory comes.

Affirmation

God I ask you for the courage, strength, and peace to seek You first, wait upon You, and discover the true freedom found in surrender.

What are you currently seeking from God? How do you consistently surrender that to him? Read Romans 5:8. What does that tell you about God that may help you in the seeking and waiting?
