DAY 19 | Faith Hacks
Power of the Hour
"You CAN give your life to a thousand issues daily. But you MUST give yourself to God daily." is the quote I've had on repeat in my mind since I read it. Letting God speak into your life through His Word and lead you into deep moments with Him will impact everything you do. We see this even in Jesus' life with Him choosing to go away and have alone time, praying often. There were many reasons He would do this, so let's dig into four of those today.
The first reason Jesus would choose Solitude over the crowds was to "Prepare for a major task". In the beginning of Luke 4 we see Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, being led into the wilderness by the Spirit and getting tempted by the enemy there before going off and starting His public ministry.
The second reason Jesus would choose alone time to pray, was to make Important Decisions. Luke 6:12-13 says, "In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God. And when day came, he called his disciples and chose from them twelve."
The third reason Jesus would choose Solitude over crowds was in times of grief. In Matthew 14 after Jesus learned that His cousin John the Baptist had been killed, He went away by Himself.
The fourth reason Jesus would spend time away was, and quite literally is, just to focus on prayer itself. Luke 5:16 says "Many times in Jesus' ministry He spent time alone in prayer."
Your walk with God determines everything about your life. You cannot expect God to do something through you if you are not allowing Him to work in you daily. The power of one hour with God a day can be life changing, bringing a fresh lens to your day, and new perspective on how you face challenges. Whether it's in the morning, night, or anywhere in between, let's not forget how powerful this hour can be for our walk with God.
Prayer
Father God, I pray that as I spend this new time with you that I would be receptive for what you have in store for me. Give me eyes to see and ears to hear your blessings and voice. And I thank you for everything you have done, am doing, and will be doing in my future. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Reflection
What is my new hour I can commit to spending time with God daily? How will I structure my daily time with God? (Does it start with some worship music then reading?) What am I looking to get out of this time with Him as this new year has begun?
