Showing Up

One of the most crucial Faith Hacks in life is so simple that it is often overlooked: showing up. It's easy to understand but hard to put into practice.

Jesus initiated His journey with every one of His disciples using the same two words: "Follow me." Although this expression isn't commonly used today in the Jewish culture that the disciples grew up in, it was a well-understood phrase that a rabbi or teacher would use to invite the best of their students to learn. This eventually led to them becoming teachers themselves, becoming like or mimicking the teacher.

What distinguishes the disciples who went on to emulate Jesus, profoundly impact lives, establish churches, and change the world—still having millions quote their words and reference their actions—from the nameless ones who heard and saw Jesus but did nothing noteworthy? They didn't show up. They didn't follow.
