The Unexpected Jesus - The Servant
Imagine this: the Creator of the universe, the King of Kings, humbly kneeling to wash the feet of His disciples. It's mind-blowing, right? In John 13, we see Jesus, fully aware of His divine authority, choosing to serve rather than be served. He wraps a towel around His waist, takes on the role of the lowest servant, and washes His disciples' feet.
Why did He do this? To set an example. Jesus teaches us that true greatness in His Kingdom is found in serving others. It's not about titles or positions but about humbling ourselves and meeting the needs of those around us. He didn't just tell us to serve; He showed us how.
When the disciples argued about who was the greatest, Jesus flipped the script, saying, "Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant" (Matthew 20:26). In God's Kingdom, serving isn't a sign of weakness but a mark of true greatness.
So, as we go about our lives, let's remember Jesus' example. Let's look for opportunities to serve, not for recognition but out of love, just as Jesus did.
Pray with Me!
Lord, thank You for showing us what true servanthood looks like. Help us to follow Your example and serve others with humility and love. Give us the heart of a servant, always ready to put others before ourselves. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Let's Reflect
How does Jesus' example of servanthood challenge the way you view greatness? In what ways can you serve those around you more intentionally this week? What might be holding you back from fully embracing the role of a servant in your life?
