The Power of a Seed | Hidden in Plain Sight

You've probably never thought much about a mustard seed. Can't blame you, it's tiny... easy to miss. Like, "blink and you'll miss it" tiny. But in Matthew 13, Jesus uses that little seed to describe something massive: the kingdom of God.

He says the kingdom is like a mustard seed that starts small but grows into a huge tree where birds can come and make their home. That's the beauty of God's kingdom. It begins with something small and ordinary, and it grows into something extraordinary.

God's kingdom works on seed principles. Whatever we sow... our time, our love, our finances, our faith... it grows. It might start tiny, but when we trust God with what we have, He multiplies it. The same way a seed releases life when it's planted, our obedience releases God's blessing.

When we honor God first, even in our giving, He promises to pour out blessings that we can't contain (Malachi 3:10). And just like the mustard tree, when we plant seeds of faith, others find shade, hope, and life because of it.

Don't underestimate the small things you do for God. A word of encouragement, a prayer for someone, a tithe check, a step of obedience. It all matters. Small seeds become strong trees.

Pray With Me!

God, thank You for trusting me with seeds to plant my time, my gifts, my resources, my love. Help me to honor You first and believe that what I plant in faith, You will grow for Your glory. Make my life like that mustard tree... strong, life-giving, and full of fruit that blesses others. Amen.

Let's Reflect:

What's one "small seed" of faith or obedience you can plant this week? How have you seen God take something small in your life and turn it into something big? What would it look like for you to honor God first—with your time, talents, or finances?
