Gratitude | Because of U
This time of year is magical, with the Christmas lights twinkling, the smell of cookies baking, and just a little more laughter in the air. It's the season that seems to naturally draw out gratitude. But if we're honest, learning to live grateful all the time is something we all are still working on.
Paul said in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, "In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." Not after everything works out. Not when life finally settles down. In everything. That's a tough one, right? Especially when the schedule is crazy, the bills pile up, or people drive you nuts.
Gratitude changes everything—it's like flipping a switch in your soul. You can't be thankful and bitter at the same time. You can't be thankful and worried about tomorrow at the same time. When we choose gratitude, it pulls us right into the present—where God already is. Remember, He's not "I was" or "I will be." He's "I AM." He's in your now.
And sometimes the "now" isn't glamorous. Sometimes it's diapers and deadlines, laundry and leftovers. But those everyday moments—when you slow down, breathe, and whisper, thank You, God, for this right here—they're holy moments.
So here's the challenge: give thanks in every moment. In the good times, remember the Giver. In the hard times, trust His hand. And in the daily grind, look for His grace. Because when we do, we stop rushing to the "next thing" and start realizing that God's goodness is already right here.
Pray With Me!
God, thank You for today—for this moment, this breath, this chance to see You at work in my ordinary life. Help me to slow down and live with a grateful heart, not just when life feels good, but in every season. Teach me to see You in the middle of my now. Amen.
Let's Reflect:
What's one ordinary thing in your day that you could start thanking God for instead of overlooking? When life gets hard, what helps you shift your focus from what's wrong to what's still good? How can you practice living with gratitude this week—right in the middle of your normal routine?
