The Missing Peace - Peace With People
The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 that God has reconciled us to Himself through Christ and given us the ministry of reconciliation. That means we're not just spectators; we're ambassadors for Christ. We're called to be people of peace, to step into the messiness of relationships and reflect the love and grace of Jesus.
Relationships don't break overnight—they can leak, drift, or shatter due to misunderstanding or hurt. But God's vision for us is different. He invites us to engage in peacekeeping, peacemaking, and being peaceful.
Peacekeeping means preserving harmony and preventing things from going wrong. Ephesians 4:15-16 reminds us to speak the truth in love, building each other up. Are we doing our part to live in peace? Peacemaking is about restoring broken relationships. If God reconciled us to Himself through Jesus, He can reconcile any two people. It's not about ignoring conflict but actively forgiving and bridging gaps. Jesus' words in Matthew 6:12 show us that forgiveness is both a demand and an empowerment. Being Peaceful challenges us to rise above. Sometimes, peace can't be restored, but we can still choose to live with the peace of God ruling in our hearts, as Colossians 3:15 urges. This means being thick-skinned and soft-hearted, not letting others' actions steal our peace.
Why can we pursue peace? Because Jesus IS our ultimate healer. He's the missing piece that brings peace. As we experience His healing, we're equipped to bring healing to others. Hurt people may hurt people, but healed people heal people. Let's embrace this calling to be agents of reconciliation, spreading the peace of God in our relationships and communities.
Pray With Us!
Jesus, thank You for reconciling us to the Father and giving us the ministry of reconciliation. Help us to be people of peace—peacekeepers, peacemakers, and carriers of Your peace. Teach us to forgive, to rise above conflicts, and to reflect Your love in every interaction. Fill our hearts with Your peace, and let it overflow into the lives of those around us. Amen.
Let's Reflect:
What does it mean to you to be an ambassador for Christ in your relationships? Is there a relationship in your life that needs peace restored? How can you take a step toward reconciliation? How can you live with the peace of God in situations where harmony isn't possible?
