Because Of You - Gratitude

With Thanksgiving still ahead of us, it feels like the perfect time to talk about gratitude—not as a holiday buzzword but as a way of life. Gratitude has the power to shift our perspective and anchor us in joy, even in the middle of challenges. I don't know about you, but I need that reminder often. Gratitude doesn't always come naturally; it's something we cultivate, and it can transform our hearts when we let it.

Paul writes in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, "Give thanks in everything, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." Now, let's be honest—giving thanks in everything feels like a tall order. It's easy to feel grateful when life is good, but what about when it's hard? Here's the truth: gratitude isn't about ignoring difficulties. It's about choosing to see God's hand, even in the mess. It's about finding reasons to say "thank you" when the circumstances might not scream "blessing."

Think about the story in Luke 17 where Jesus heals ten lepers. Only one of them comes back to thank Him. The others may have been excited or even grateful in their hearts, but only one acted on it. Gratitude isn't just a feeling—it's an action. It's about taking the time to acknowledge the giver, whether it's God or someone He's placed in your life. James 1:17 reminds us, "Every good and perfect gift is from above." Everything we have—our families, friendships, daily provisions, even the sunrise—is evidence of God's goodness.

The beauty of gratitude is that it doesn't just make the giver feel appreciated—it changes us. Grateful people are happier people. Gratitude reminds us of how deeply we are loved and cared for by God. And when we take time to express thanks, we create moments of connection, joy, and worship.

Pray With Us!

Heavenly Father, thank You for the countless ways You bless us every day. Help us to see the good in our lives, even in the small moments, and teach us to live with hearts that are quick to thank You and others. Let gratitude flow from us and draw us closer to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Let's Reflect:

What is one thing—big or small—that you are thankful for today? Who in your life needs to hear a "thank you" from you this week, and how will you express it? How does focusing on gratitude change the way you see God's work in your life?
