The Holy Spirit | Acts 29
Pastor Rob shared a story yesterday about how he watched his grandson, Sterling, learn to ride a bike. Sterling was cruising uphill, and he had his hand on his back the whole way, cheering him on. When he made it to the top, Pastor Rob said, "You did it!"—and the smile on Sterling's face was priceless. That's kind of what God does for us. The Holy Spirit is like the hand at our back, pushing us, guiding us, and celebrating with us when we take steps of faith.
If the Book of Acts had a title, maybe it shouldn't be "The Acts of the Apostles"—it should be "The Acts of the Holy Spirit." Every story, every miracle, every conversion, every bold word spoken was made possible because the Spirit was working through ordinary people like you and me. The Holy Spirit isn't some abstract force, a fog, or a ghostly figure. He is a person—the Helper, Advocate, Comforter—who comes alongside to guide, teach, empower, and fill us with life.
The Spirit does all sorts of incredible things: Gives life: He makes us alive in Christ, filling us with peace, joy, and purpose. Convicts: He gently convinces us of truth and guides us toward righteousness. Teaches and reminds: He helps us understand God's Word not just with our head, but in our hearts. Guides and empowers: He leads us, strengthens us, and gives us gifts for the common good.
The Spirit is ready to work in and through us, every single day. We just have to say yes. Invite Him in. Yield to His guidance. Let Him use us in ways we might never imagine.
Pray With Me!
Holy Spirit, thank You for being my Helper and Guide. Help me to notice Your presence, follow Your lead, and trust You to work through me. Fill me with Your life, love, and power today, and help me shine like Jesus for those around me. Amen.
Let's Reflect:
Can you think of a time when you sensed the Holy Spirit guiding or encouraging you? How did it feel? Are there areas of your life where you're resisting the Spirit? What would it look like to invite Him in today? How can you use the gifts and guidance of the Holy Spirit to help others this week?
