Fire Works

Scripture: Daniel 3:16-18

There is always a pressure to worship something. Whether it's comfort, fear, approval, or control, life is constantly cueing us to bow. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego faced that pressure head-on — a statue, a furnace, and a king who gave them one more chance to bend the knee.

Their answer wasn't built on knowing how the story would end. It was built on knowing who God is.

"Our God can rescue us... But even if He doesn't, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods." — Daniel 3:17-18 (NLT)

That's the ability to be certain during an uncertain time — and it's invaluable. They didn't wait to see the outcome before they trusted God. They trusted Him first, and let the outcome be whatever it would be.

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." — Hebrews 11:1

When they were thrown into the furnace, the fire was real — turned up seven times hotter. But what the flames revealed wasn't destruction. It was a fourth presence in the fire with them, and three men who walked out without even the smell of smoke on them.

When faith steps in a fire, things are revealed, not burned.

Whatever furnace you're standing in today, it isn't there to destroy your faith. It's there to reveal it.

Reflection: Where is God asking you to be certain of His character, even before you're certain of the outcome?

Prayer: God, help me trust You before I see how the story ends. Let the fire in my life reveal my faith instead of burning it away. I will not bow to what's asking for my worship — I will worship You.
