DAY 17 | Faith Hacks
The Power of an Address Change
The feeling you get when one of those envelopes with the little window arrives at your house. The bold letters printed in red - OVERDUE. Feelings of guilt and shame rise up to the forefront of your mind and you ponder immediately, how did I miss this? When I think how that makes me feel, even today I am reminded of a profound learning moment that changed the way I will forever deal with guilt or shame.
Back to the daunting envelope - as you read the words typed in the little window you realize that this was sent to the WRONG ADDRESS! As quickly as your heart flooded with feelings of negative result, a theme song of sheer delight and freedom rises, and you easily put that same heavy weighted envelope down with the utmost of ease.
It's sent to the wrong address - it is not your BILL to pay. You don't feel guilt, you don't feel regret you don't feel shame.
This same feeling is a power filled FAITH HACK when you recognize that what happened when Jesus took all the shame, guilt, and regret for all the overdue accounts of our sin and forever changed the address for all unpaid debts to His address. (So, to speak) Forever every piece of shame-mail and guilt-account and "not good enough" -unpaid bill, kind of pieces of mail that the enemy leaves at your door you get to return to sender with this statement written all over it - WRONG ADDRESS!!!
Psalm 55:22 NKJV "Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you. He shall never permit the righteous to be moved."
A poetic interpretation of the following scripture helps to see this in practice:
Colossians 3:1-2 "See yourselves co-raised with Christ! Now ponder with persuasion the consequence of your co-inclusion in him. Relocate yourselves mentally! Engage your thoughts with throne room realities where you are co-seated with Christ in the executive authority of God's right hand. Becoming affectionately acquainted with throne room thoughts will keep you from being distracted again by the earthly [soul-ruled] realm."
Prayer
Lord Jesus, remind me when the shame and guilt and not good enough pieces of mail land at the door of my heart, that You have paid for those accounts in FULL and I can truly walk out my faith walk with you without any burden hindering me. Bring me more and more freedom to be quick to trust more in Your love for me that in the fear and anxieties of this world. AMEN
