Transitions & Changes
Life is full of transitions.
Some are exciting—a new job, a growing family, a fresh opportunity. Others are unexpected—a loss, a diagnosis, a broken relationship, or a season that feels uncertain. Change can be unsettling because we often don't know what waits for us on the other side.
The disciples understood that feeling.
One evening, Jesus simply said, "Let us go over to the other side." They believed Him, climbed into the boat, and followed. But somewhere between where they started and where they were headed, a violent storm threatened everything.
Isn't that how life often feels?
You obey God. You step out in faith. Then suddenly the winds begin to blow, and you wonder if you've somehow missed His will.
But notice something important: Jesus never promised a storm-free journey. He promised His presence.
Before they ever encountered the storm, Jesus had already said, "Let us go..." He didn't send them alone—He went with them.
The same is true for us.
Whatever transition you're walking through today, Jesus is in the boat. His presence is greater than your circumstances. Even when He seems quiet, He has not abandoned you. He is still directing your life.
Sometimes following Jesus also means leaving things behind. Old habits. Old hurts. Fear. Relationships that pull us away from Him. We can't fully embrace where God is leading us while holding tightly to what He has asked us to release.
And perhaps the greatest lesson is this: God's timing doesn't always match ours.
The disciples wanted the storm to end immediately. Jesus was more interested in growing their faith than shortening the journey.
Because there was a reason they had to get to the other side.
A man bound by darkness was waiting to be set free.
What if the storm you're facing isn't just about you?
What if God is preparing your story to become someone else's hope?
The hardships you've endured, the prayers you've prayed, and the faith you've chosen to hold onto may one day become the testimony that points another person to Jesus.
So don't quit in the middle of the lake.
Keep following.
The Author of Life is still writing your story, and the other side is worth the journey.

Prayer
Father, thank You for never asking me to walk through change alone. Thank You for being with me in every transition and every storm. Help me to trust Your direction even when I don't understand Your timing. Give me the courage to leave behind anything that keeps me from fully following You. Strengthen my faith as You continue writing my story, and use every part of my journey to bring hope and freedom to others. In Jesus' name, amen.
