The Woman At The Well | Crossed Paths
A little girl once asked, "If God is bigger than us and He lives in us, wouldn't He show through?" That question sits at the heart of this story.
In John 4, Jesus "had to" go through Samaria. Not because it was convenient. Not because it was efficient. Because it was a divine appointment. At a well, in the heat of the day, an outsider showed up—a Samaritan woman with a complicated past. Ethnic barriers. Religious barriers. Moral barriers. Gender barriers. Every reason in the world to avoid the conversation. And Jesus started one anyway.
He asked for water. The One who offers living water made Himself the one in need. No superiority. No lecture. Just a bridge. A simple question that opened a door.
Then came the moment: "I am He."
The clearest declaration of His identity—given not to a religious insider, but to a woman the world had written off.
She came to the well alone, likely avoiding the whispers of others. Yet Jesus saw her fully—and stayed. Not rushed. Not distracted. He created margin for what mattered most. One conversation changed her life. And through her testimony, a whole town came to believe. Jesus crossed barriers to reach one. He still does. And if He lives within His people, shouldn't He show through?
The invitation is simple: go where people are. Create margin. Initiate conversations. Think about one. Because sometimes a simple conversation about water becomes a story of living water—and eternity is changed.
Let's Reflect:
Who might be the "one" already within reach that needs a simple, intentional conversation? What barriers—social, cultural, personal, or internal—might be preventing meaningful connection? Where could more margin be created to notice and respond to divine appointments?
Pray With Me!
Lord, help Your love show through. Open eyes to see the one, give courage to cross barriers, and create space for meaningful conversations. Use simple moments to bring living water to thirsty hearts. Amen.
