The Unexpected Jesus - "The Builder"
Mark 6:3 tells us, "Isn't this the carpenter?" The Greek word used here, "tekton," refers to a craftsman or builder, someone skilled with various materials. This wasn't just Jesus' job; it was part of His mission. He wasn't just building physical structures but laying the groundwork for His ministry and, ultimately, our salvation.
From the very beginning, Jesus has been at work. Hebrews 11:3 says, "The worlds were framed by the word of God." The entire universe was crafted by His hands, and we were made in His image. This means every detail of our lives, every joy, and every hardship, is part of His grand design. He takes our past experiences and builds us up, using even our challenges to shape us into something beautiful.
As we follow His teachings, we become like the wise man who built his house on the rock (Matthew 7:24-27). And we get to actively participate in this process, allowing Jesus to use our actions, decisions, and relationships to construct a life that honors Him.
He promises in John 14:2-3 to prepare a place for us. This assurance means that even in the face of life's storms and fires, we can trust that He is building something eternal and glorious for us. What a gift!
Pray with me!
Heavenly Father, thank You for being the Master Builder of our lives. Help us recognize Your hand in our past, trust Your work in our present, and look forward to the future You are preparing for us. Give us the wisdom to build our lives on the solid foundation of Your love and truth. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Let's Reflect.
How have you seen Jesus' handiwork in your past experiences? What areas of your life is Jesus currently building or reshaping? How can you actively participate in the building process Jesus has for your future?
