Legacy - From Lakes to Rivers
It's easy to take in all the blessings and comfort God gives us, like a calm, peaceful lake. We receive His love, His guidance, and His grace, and it's wonderful. But Jesus has something even more exciting in mind for us. He wants us to be rivers, not just lakes.
Think about a river for a moment. It's always moving, always flowing, bringing life and freshness wherever it goes. A river doesn't keep the water to itself; it shares it, and in doing so, it transforms everything it touches. Jesus is calling us to be like that—to let His love and grace flow through us to others.
Let me share a little story from the Bible. You've got the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea, both connected by the Jordan River. The Sea of Galilee is full of life because it has an outflow; it gives what it receives. The Dead Sea, on the other hand, just takes in water and has no outflow. As a result, nothing can live there. It's a stark reminder that we're meant to be givers, not just takers.
So, how about we take Jesus up on His invitation? Let's ask Him to help us be rivers of living water, bringing His hope and love to those around us. When we do, we'll find that our own lives become richer and more fulfilling too.
Let's Pray.
Dear Jesus, we come to You today, hearts open and ready. We're thirsty for Your living water. Fill us up with Your Holy Spirit, and let Your love flow through us like a mighty river. Help us to touch the lives of those around us with Your grace and kindness. Teach us to be generous with the blessings You've given us, so we can be a source of life and hope to others. Amen.
Let's Reflect!
Have you been more like a lake, receiving God's blessings without sharing them? How does that make you feel? What are some simple ways you can start being a "river" in your everyday life, letting God's love flow through you to others? Think back to a time when someone was a river of living water for you. How did their actions touch your heart, and how can you do the same for someone else?
