Grace for Unity | Grace to & Through

Unity doesn't happen by accident...it happens on purpose.

In a world that constantly pulls people apart, God calls His church to something radically different. Division is everywhere, from opinions, preferences, backgrounds, and personalities, all competing for space. Left unchecked, it creates distance and loneliness.

But God's vision for His people is unity. Not to be confused with uniformity, where everyone looks the same, thinks the same, and acts the same, but unity in the middle of our differences. A kind of togetherness that reflects His heart and shows the world who He is.

That's why, after everything grace has done for us, scripture immediately calls us to protect unity.

"Make every effort…" That means unity is something we pursue, protect, and prioritize. It takes intentional effort because we're all different and because we're all imperfect.

So how do we live this out?

We choose humility over ego. Gentleness over harshness. Patience over frustration. Love over irritation. We remember that what unites us is far greater than what could divide us.

Unity grows when we engage in our purpose. When we serve, contribute, and show up for one another, we start to move in the same direction.

Let's Reflect:

Where in your life do you currently see disunity—at home, work, church, or relationships—and how is it affecting you? Which attitude (humility, gentleness, patience, or bearing with others in love) do you find most challenging to live out? Why? In your daily interactions, are you more likely to "bring gasoline or water"? What would it look like to intentionally choose unity this week?

Pray With Me!

Father, thank You for the unity You've made possible through Jesus. Help me to value what You value and to pursue peace in my relationships. Give me a humble heart, a gentle spirit, and the patience to love others well. Teach me to be a person who builds unity, not division. Use my life to reflect Your love to the world around me. Amen.
