Faith Speaks | Fight the Good Fight
Words are far more powerful than we often realize.
With just a few sentences, we can encourage someone to keep going—or discourage them to the point of giving up. Our words can calm fears, create clarity, and build hope. Or they can spread negativity, confusion, and doubt.
Scripture compares the tongue to a bit in a horse's mouth and a rudder on a ship. Both are small, but both determine direction. In the same way, the words we speak have an incredible influence over the course of our lives.
Why are words so powerful?
First, words reveal what is in our hearts. Jesus said that the mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart. If our words are consistently filled with faith, gratitude, and encouragement, it is because those things are taking root inside us. If our speech is dominated by criticism, fear, and complaint, it may be a sign that God wants to do some deeper work in our hearts.
Second, words shape the future. Proverbs tells us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Our words become like a rudder, steering us toward hope or despair, courage or retreat.
This is why speaking faith matters.
Faith-filled words do not ignore reality; they declare that God is greater than what we see. Abraham said, "The Lord will provide." Moses declared, "You will see the deliverance of the Lord." David stood before Goliath and spoke confidence in God's power.
And we are invited to do the same.
When fear rises, speak truth. When challenges seem overwhelming, speak God's promises. When doubt whispers, remind your soul of who God is.
Anyone can describe things as they are. Faith dares to speak about what God can do.
So today, choose words that reflect trust in the Lord. Let your speech strengthen your heart, encourage others, and point every circumstance toward the greatness of God.

Prayer
Father, thank You for the gift and power of words. Help me to fill my heart with Your truth so that my speech reflects faith, hope, and love. Guard me from negative and fearful thinking, and teach me to declare Your promises over my life and circumstances. Use my words to encourage others and to bring glory to You. In Jesus' name, amen.
