Courage Shows Up
Let's talk a little bit about something we all need a little more of: courage. Courage isn't just for the heroes in movies or those who face danger for a living. It's for all of us, every single day.
Courage shows up in the big and small moments of our lives. It's there when we make the life altering decision to follow Jesus, even when it goes against the grain of popular culture. It's in the quiet strength it takes to forgive someone, to stand up for what's right, or to honor God with our resources even when it's tough.
We see examples of courage all around us—yes, in the first responders and soldiers—but also in each other. Courage is in a parent saying no for the betterment of their child, or a friend standing up against injustice, or even in the moments when we admit we're wrong.
The Bible speaks repeatedly about courage. In Joshua 1:9, God commands, "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." This isn't just a nice saying; it's a call to action, a reminder that we're not alone in our struggles.
Every day, we have the chance to choose courage. To face our fears, to step out in faith, and to embrace the challenges life throws at us. Let's remember, in every act of courage, no matter how small, we reflect the brave spirit of our Savior.
Pray with me!
Lord, give us the strength to be courageous today, to face our challenges with faith, and to stand firm in the truth of Your Word. Help us to remember that we are never alone, that You are always with us, providing the courage we need. Amen.
Let's Reflect:
What is one area in your life where you need to show more courage? How can your understanding of God's presence help you overcome a fear you currently face? In what ways can you support others in your community to act courageously?
