The Unexpected Jesus - The Man

On paper, it's straightforward. Jesus is 100% God and 100% human. Yet, fully grasping this is challenging. John 1:14 tells us, "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us." This means Jesus, while fully God, became fully human. Imagine a coin with two sides: heads and tails. Both sides are integral, and without one, the coin loses its value. Jesus being both God and man is essential.

Why Did Jesus Become Human?

To Make Us Right with God: Jesus took on human nature to die for our sins. 1 Peter 3:18 says, "Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God."

To Be Our Example: Jesus lived a life of perfect obedience as a human, showing us it could be done (Hebrews 5:8).

To Identify with Us: This is where we'll focus today. Jesus came in the flesh to empathize with our weaknesses and be approachable.

Unlike politicians who pretend to relate, Jesus genuinely identified with humanity. He was born, fed, changed, had a family, worked a job, and faced life's challenges.

Hebrews 2:14 tells us, "Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity." Jesus was not a ghost but fully human, with knees that could be scraped and skin that could bruise.

Pray With Me!

Dear Jesus, thank you for becoming human and experiencing life as we do. Help us to bring our struggles to you, knowing you understand and empathize with our weaknesses. Guide us to live by your example, drawing strength from your presence. Amen.
