Practical and often skeptical, we Westerners are a proof-seeking bunch. We like charts, graphs and hard data. We want the facts ma’am, just the facts. Sure, there is a fraction of our population that is curious about the unseen. But many land on the mantra: I’ll believe it when I see it.
As we begin our six week series on the supernatural, we realize it’s a stretch for some of you but it’s a good stretch, the kind that will expand your world.
We are leading with the idea that we are not alone; there are indeed angels among us. Through angelic encounters recorded in the Bible we learn a lot about why they are here:
· Their first priority is to worship God
· They give direction and deliver messages
· They protect, serve and fight for us
· They are personal
· They carry us as we transition to heaven
In one example, we find the prophet Elisha surrounded by the enemy and yet oddly at peace while his servant is freaking out. What his servant couldn’t see was an even bigger army of angels surrounding the enemy. Elisha replied, “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” (2 Kings 6:16) His position of rest and peace was found in the assurance that there is a mighty angelic host and they are WITH US even when we cannot see them with our eyes.
Affirmation:I will rest in the knowledge that we are not alone

2 Corinthians 4:18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Hebrews 13:2 Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.
