The Bible tells us with certainty in that Jesus will return one day. The coming of Christ was never meant to create fear, but rather a sense of excitement, passion and joyful anticipation. We can be assured that if we have put our faith in Jesus’ death on the cross for our sins, we have nothing to worry about.

And the Bible tells us exactly what we should be doing as we wait upon the arrival of our Savior.

“Don’t give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:25

We should get connected, meet together, encourage one another and build relationships.

There are a number of reasons why getting connected in God’s family is important.

Everyone desires relationships – It is the innate desire for every human being to be relationally connected, the Social Media phenomenon reveals this. We get excited when we receive a “friend request” even from people we don’t really know. The challenge is that even though we have many “friends” on Social Media, we may not really know them at all, but it does reveal our desire to connect.

Your life is better with relationships – Genesis 2:18 tells that it is not good for man to be alone. This is not referring to only married people, but rather God is pointing out that although Jesus has provided all we need, we still need each other. The joys of life are doubled and our burdens can be cut in half when we have friends.

Your destiny depends on relationships – You have heard the phrase “show me your friends and I’ll show you your future.” Our relationships can either bring us up or bring us down. We can all think of a time when someone encouraged us, but also when someone discouraged us. Good friends can catapult you towards your destiny.

God loves relationships – He is the God of relationships. He desires a relationship with us and designed us to thrive in life-giving, healthy relationships with others. Jesus had friends that were close to him as he ministered, traveled, taught and fulfilled his purpose here on earth.

The world is changed through relationships – Anything significant that has ever been done in this world has been accomplished by a group of individuals around a common cause. You can make a difference by hosting a small group so other people can make some great friends.
