Without God we cannot, without us he will not.
I can’t. God can. We will.
The beautiful partnership of our trust and his power is summed up magnificently in this verse:
I can do all this through Christ who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13
We will focus on victory one day at a time. Sometimes it’s hard to imagine being free for the rest of our lives. Jesus encouraged us to ask the Father for daily bread, daily provision. (Matthew 6:11) Focus on renewing your mind today, trusting today and changing today.
We will focus on what we want to do, not what we don’t want to do. We tend to move toward what we focus on. We act on what we think about. Here’s the point –it’s not helpful to spending time and energy thinking about what you want to avoid. Look at where you want to go and what you want to do.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Philippians 4:8
We will focus on doing good and not feeling good. It is always easier to act your way into a feeling than to feel your way into an action. So do the right thing whether you feel like it or not – the feelings will follow.
We will focus on developing positive relationships. “We” implies we are not alone. We are partnering with God as we move toward freedom. “We” also suggests that we are moving forward in the company of other freedom seekers.
