Decked out in their 1970’s polyester finest, the Oral Roberts television show singers would smile into the camera and say, “Something good is going to happen to you this very day…” He challenged people to expect a miracle.

What about you? Will you dare to believe that something good is coming? That a miracle is on its way to you?

Our God is a God of miracles. Remember the lion’s den, the fiery furnace, the loaves and fishes?  The Bible is full of unexplainable events. We believe God is still doing the miraculous today.

Sometimes we miss our miracle because:

  • It doesn’t come the way we want
  • We think what we have is too small for God to work with
  • It doesn’t come on our timing
  • We are blinded to the possibility of a miracle in the midst of the storm
  • It comes from something or someone too close
  • We’ve lost our sense of expectancy

There was a desperate woman in the days of Elisha. Creditors were calling. Her family was about to be torn apart. But God did a miracle with the one thing she had left in her house. What do you have in your house, in your hands? Expect God to do something supernatural.

Affirmation: I will recapture a heart of expectancy.

2 Kings 4:1-7 The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.” Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?” “Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.” Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few.  Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.” She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.” But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing. She went and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.”
