Caleb Koke | 1992-2009
Caleb Sterling Koke, born February 11, 1992, fell asleep at the wheel at 3:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 after dropping his friends off at their homes following a youth event. His car swerved off the road and hit a tree. In an instant, he was home with the Lord he endeavored to serve. Caleb, the son of pastors Robert and Laura Koke, lived life to the fullest. He was a budding basketball star, driven by his tenacious discipline and dedication to the game. His drive was matched only by his love and loyalty to those he served, competed with and lived with daily. Caleb carried the unique combination of being both kind and strong. A natural born leader, he quietly lived his convictions and fiercely stood for what he knew was right. He was a beloved son, treasured friend and deeply loved leader to those both younger and older. Caleb loved his family, immediate and extended. At his grandfather's recent memorial service, Caleb spoke eloquently of his Opa's servant heart and how it was his desire to live that out in his own life. He did so until he took his final breath. Caleb was not only protective and devoted to family, he was tender to all living things. He had pets of every variety and animals warmed to his gentle touch. Caleb was a young man of perseverance - when he felt weak, he pushed harder. Any failure only drove him to success. He gave his all to everything he did, and he inspired those around him to do the same. Caleb may have only lived 17 years on this earth, but his legacy will live on in all who knew and loved him. Donations can be made in his honor to the LOVE Foundation at Shoreline Christian Center, an outreach funding ministry to the needy in the community and mission work around the world.
